Rathkeale Men’s Shed

Retirement and under employment bring several changes, including the end of a steady work routine, income stream, and social interactions. It also leads to a loss of professional identity and routine health and fitness activities. Making the best of these changes requires new routines, rediscovering yourself, managing finances carefully, finding ways to stay active, and seeking out social opportunities.

The Rathkeale Men’s Shed is a community of men promoting wellness by connecting, sharing, learning, growing, and helping others in a safe, relaxing, and supportive environment. This friendly not-for-profit group welcomes local men over 18 years of age.

The Shed was established in 2023 by Rathkeale Together. Members get together on Thursdays at 11 am in the Parish Hall on Lower Main Street (V94 RCX2) and at other arranged times. Members donate €50 per year, organise activities, share chores, and rotate governance roles. Participants in projects and on trips share related expenses.

The 2024 Executive Committee includes David Lamont (Chairperson), Mike Walsh (Vice Chairperson), Neily Hogan (Treasurer), Noel White (Secretary), Valerie Foley (Activity Director), Denis Robinson (Rathkeale Together Project Coordinator), John Egan (Committee Member), and John O’Connor (Committee Member.)
