New Community Building (this year)

Due to a lack of suitable meeting spaces, the Rathkeale Men’s Shed is building its own facility to share with the community. Thanks to the support of the AFC, the new building will be located in Holycross with ample parking and utility connections. The Shed has planning permission and is investing almost all its own funds. Nevertheless, to open the facility this year it needs your help. Anyone can donate in-person through Rathkeale Together at the Parish Hall (next to hotel) or by bank card through our GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/e5169f24

Sponsor our Abbeyfeale to Rathkeale Walk and Cycle (and potential crawl the last leg of the near 40 kilometres) on Saturday, August 10. Lines are on sale now and Shedders will have them at Downes Eurospar and O’Gairbhi’s Post Office on Friday, July 26th. A Euro per kilometre would be great, and donors of €5+ will be entered into a raffle for a lovely hamper donated by Downe’s Eurospar.

A Church Gate Collection will be held outside St. Mary’s before Mass on September 14 and 15.

The Shed thanks the Rathkeale AFC, Cllr. Stephen Keary, Cllr. John O’Donoghue, Cllr. Bridie Collins, candidate Trina O’Dea, the Irish Men’s Shed Association, Sports Ireland and the others who have already helped. We expect many of Rathkeale’s favourite businesses and personalities will help as well. A grant is possible, but most won’t fund capital projects, they are highly competitive, and most only open for applications later in the year.

The Rathkeale Men’s Shed (Charity No. 200785591) is a community of men promoting wellness by connecting, sharing, learning, growing, and helping others in a safe, relaxing, and supportive environment. Founded last Christmas, the current membership already represents about 15% of the town’s senior resident male population. It is a subgroup of Rathkeale Together (administered by West Limerick Resources) and is an active member of the Irish Men’s Shed Association.
